1) Did you watch the show before getting the part?
I actually had never seen the show before I auditioned for it but I had certainly heard of it.
2) How did you get in the show?
I had done a Degree Deodorant commercial playing a bride, the casting director saw it and called me in from that.
3) Did you audition for another role in SB before Caitlin?
No, Caitlin was the only character I had auditioned for.
4) How did you fit in the cast and crew at the beginning?
It’s always hard being the new person but everyone extended themselves pretty quickly and made me feel at home.
5) Is it hard to replace another actress to play the same character?
It’s very hard to replace another actress because people are very used to the original character and so everything is compared to the standards that the original actress has set. But all you can do is the work.
6) Do you know why Vanessa Dorman (former Catilin) was replaced?
To this day I don’t know why they replaced her. I’m sure that must have been a difficult position to be in. I think there were some politics going on behind the scenes that weren’t very fair. Of course the show always said they were taking the character in a « new » direction. Whatever that meant.
7) Have you found it hard to take on the role of Caitlin after the departure of Vanessa Dorman?
Vanessa had a lot of fans on that show and still does to this day. People really loved her portrayal of Caitlin so it was hard to step into those shoes. At the end of the day, it’s a job and to find work as an actor can be a bit tough so you want to take things as they come along. I never wanted to think I was taking anything away from another actor and I always had great respect for Vanessa.
8) What do you think of your portrayal of Caitlin?
I was very new at acting when I was on that show so looking back I wish I had been a bit stronger with the character but I think in the end my take worked as a counterpart to Annie and Francesca.
9) Do you understand Caitlin’s actions?
Part of your job as an actor is to find the motivation of every action your character takes- as whacky as they may be sometimes. So I did my best to find those motivations.
10) How would you react instead of Caitlin in the same situation?
Well I would be absolutely horrified if my mother ever had a baby with my husband, that’s for sure!
11) What was the most powerful scene you had to play? And which was the hardest scene to perform?
Any time there was a death on the show, those were hard scenes to perform.
12) Could you give ideas to the writers on the evolution of your character?
We didn’t really discuss it, I think they would take cues from how actors were playing their characters sometimes and follow the direction that would be going and then turn it on it’s head.
13) If the show has to resume, would you take the role of Caitlin again? If so what would you like to happen to her?
I would be the mother of a teenager now! It’s strange to think Trey would almost be in high school!

1) Avez-vous regardé la série avant de jouer dedans ?
Je n’avais jamais vu la série avant d’auditionner, mais j’en avais entendu parler.
2) Comment êtes-vous arrivée dans la série ?
J’avais fait une pub pour un déodorant dans laquelle je jouais une jeune mariée, le directeur de casting m’y a remarquée et m’a appelée.
3) Avez-vous auditionné pour un autre rôle dans SB avant Caitlin ?
Non, Caitlin est le seul personnage pour lequel j’ai auditionné.
4) Comment s’est passé votre intégration dans l’équipe ?
C’est toujours difficile d’être la nouvelle, mais tout le monde m’a très vite accueilli à bras ouverts.
5) Ce n’est pas trop dur de remplacer une actrice pour jouer le même rôle ?
C’est très difficile de remplacer une autre actrice, parce que les gens sont habitués au personnage original, donc tout ce qu’on fait est comparé à ce que l’actrice précédente a fait. La seule chose à faire, c’est travailler.
6) Est-ce que vous savez pourquoi Vanessa Dorman a été remplacé ?
A ce jour, j’ignore encore pourquoi ils l’ont remplacée. Je suis sûre que c’était une position difficile. Je pense qu’il y avait des manières de faire en coulisses qui n’étaient pas très justes. Bien sûr, la position officielle a toujours été qu’ils voulaient emmener Caitlin dans une « nouvelle » direction… quoi que ça puisse vouloir dire.
7) Avez-vous trouvez difficile de jouer le rôle de Caitlin après le départ de Vanessa ?
Vanessa avait beaucoup de fans et en a toujours. Les gens ont beaucoup aimé sa façon d’interpréter Caitlin, c’était donc difficile d’arriver après ça. Mais au final, c’est un travail, et trouver un emploi en tant qu’acteur peut être difficile, donc on prend ce qu’on trouve. Je n’ai jamais pensé prendre la place de qui que ce soit et j’ai toujours eu beaucoup de respect pour Vanessa.
8) Que pensez-vous de Caitlin ?
J’étais débutante en tant qu’actrice, et avec le recul j’aurais aimé rendre Caitlin plus forte, mais au final je pense que mon interprétation marchait en complémentarité avec Annie et Francesca.
9) Comprennez-vous les actions de Caitlin ?
Une part du travail d’acteur est de trouver les motivations de tous les actes de votre personnage – aussi tordus soient-ils. J’ai fait de mon mieux pour les trouver.
10) Comment auriez-vous réagis à la place de Caitlin dans la même situation ?
Eh bien je serais absolument horrifiée si ma mère avait eu un enfant avec mon mari, ça c’est sûr !
11) Quelle a été la scène la plus dur à jouer ?
A chaque fois qu’il y avait une mort dans la série, ces scènes étaient difficiles à jouer.
12) Pouviez-vous donner des idées pour les scénaristes sur l’évolution de ton personnage ?
Nous ne parlions pas vraiment de ça, je pense qu’ils observaient la manière dont les acteurs interprétaient leurs personnages et s’en servaient parfois pour le faire aller dans telle ou telle direction.
13) Si la série reprenait, reprendriez-vous le rôle de Caitlin ? Si oui que voudriez-vous qu’il lui arrive ?
Je serais la mère d’un ado maintenant ! C’est bizarre de se dire que Trey serait presque au lycée maintenant.
